Now that we’re in between sports seasons, I’m swapping out cleats for garden clogs and giving some much-needed TLC to my little backyard garden. I have the five things you need for a successful garden!🪴

I’ve been growing veggies year-round for several years now, and while I still call myself a “beginner gardener” (because hey—there’s always something new to learn), I’ve definitely found my go-to tools and must-haves that make gardening easier, more enjoyable, and way more productive.

Here’s my Hot List of gardening essentials I truly can’t live without—plus a bonus seed company I swear by!

This post contains affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission—at no extra cost to you—if you make a purchase through one of my links. I only share products I personally use and love. Thank you for supporting my garden (and my blog)!

🧤 1. Gardening Gloves

👉 Grab a pair on Amazon
Your hands deserve protection when you’re digging, planting, pruning, and hauling soil. A good pair of gloves keeps the dirt out and your hands safe—especially when working with tools or dealing with pokey roots and thorns. I keep an extra pair just in case someone wants to join me out in the garden!

🪓 2. Digging Fork

👉 My favorite tool ever
This digging fork is everything. It’s the perfect size, sturdy, and can power through tough soil, root clusters, and even rocks. I honestly use it more than my shovel—it’s my ride-or-die tool.

🥄 3. Trowel

👉 Shop the one I use
A good trowel makes all the difference when planting herbs, flowers, or seedlings. It’s great for tight spaces and perfect for those “just one more plant” moments (which happen a lot around here!).

🧺 4. Garden Harvest Basket

👉 I love this one!
Once the veggies start rolling in, you’ll want a lightweight harvest basket that lets dirt fall through and gives your produce room to breathe. Bonus: it’s cute enough to double as a kitchen counter display when filled with fresh herbs or garden goodies!

🌿 5. My Favorite Seed Source: Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds

👉 Check them out here (Not an affiliate—just a big fan!)
I’ve been buying seeds from Baker Creek for years, and their quality is unmatched. I love supporting this family-run company, and their catalog is garden eye candy! If you love trying unique heirlooms or rare varieties, this place is gold.

🪴 Final Thoughts

Gardening is my slow-down space in a life that’s often rushing from practice to potluck. These tools and supplies make the whole experience smoother, more fun, and more fruitful—literally!

If you’re new to gardening or just need a refresh, start with these five must-haves. 🌞 Happy digging, sowing, and harvesting!
